UNTS4201 - Applied Indonesian Language
Overview
This course develops students' ability to use Indonesian effectively in academic and professional contexts. It introduces the history, status, and functions of Bahasa Indonesia; distinctions between academic and non-academic texts; and the conventions of standard written Indonesian, including spelling and word usage.
Students study and practise major academic and professional genres covered in the source RPS: review texts, proposals, reports, and scientific articles. They learn to identify the purpose, characteristics, organization, and language features of each genre, and to apply these features when producing their own texts.
The course also develops responsible academic communication through attention to academic ethics, information quality and relevance, stakeholder-oriented communication, clear recommendations, and professional dissemination. Writing, discussion, peer feedback, group presentation, and individual practice are used to strengthen accuracy, clarity, evidence use, and communication effectiveness.
