IITS4102 - Interaction Design and User Experience (UX)

Overview

This course delivers a rigorous, human-centered framework for designing interactive digital products. Grounded in an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach, the curriculum shifts focus from purely aesthetic, surface-level interface styling to the systemic engineering of user experiences based on cognitive principles, behavioral data, and interaction design patterns.

Students explore the cognitive psychology underpinning user behavior, focusing on mental models, feedback loops, Gestalt principles, and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2). The curriculum guides students through the entire user experience lifecycle: from empirical user research and persona creation to information architecture, wireframing, high-fidelity prototyping, and quantitative usability testing.

In the laboratory/studio component, students develop practical, industry-grade proficiencies using professional vector design and prototyping tools (such as Figma). They will design modular component libraries, configure advanced interactive responsive prototypes, map out user flows, and run controlled usability test sessions. Additionally, the course addresses cross-platform design constraints (web, mobile, and responsive systems) alongside modern ethical design patterns, preparing students to work as data-driven UX designers and product strategists.
