IITS4202 - Applications Modelling and Development
Overview
This course delivers a comprehensive framework for modeling, design patterns, and engineering software application systems. Grounded in an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach, the curriculum shifts focus from basic programming tasks to the systematic abstraction, design, and generation of enterprise software applications.
Students will explore how to analyze functional specifications and transform them into precise structural and behavioral blueprints using the Unified Modeling Language (UML). The core curriculum emphasizes structural design engineering, guiding students through architectural patterns and the GoF (Gang of Four) design patterns to eliminate rigid code duplication.
In the laboratory component, students develop practical, industry-grade competencies: progressing from translating class diagrams into structural source code to configuring automated object-relational mappings (ORM) and designing stateful multi-tiered applications. Additionally, the course addresses structural refactoring practices, design-by-contract rules, and software testability indicators, preparing students to work as domain-driven system architects and full-stack system information engineers.
