ISTS5102 - Software Testing
Overview
This course provides a comprehensive, hands-on exploration of the principles, mathematical foundations, and automated frameworks essential to modern software verification and validation. Designed around an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) model, the curriculum shifts focus from purely identifying defects to engineering systematic quality into the software lifecycle.
Students will analyze software requirements to construct optimized test strategies, eliminating combinatorial explosion through structural (White-Box) and behavioral (Black-Box) test design patterns. The laboratory component emphasizes practical engineering competencies, guiding students to architect multi-tiered automation suites (Unit, API, and End-to-End UI) integrated within automated Continuous Integration (CI/CD) pipelines. Additionally, the course addresses non-functional engineering—specifically performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities—while cultivating the agile teamwork and asynchronous defect-tracking habits required in production-grade software environments.
