UNFS5101 - Citizenship in The Changing World

Overview

This course develops students’ knowledge, values, and civic competencies as responsible citizens of Indonesia. It examines the foundations and purposes of citizenship education, national identity and integration, Pancasila, the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, citizenship status, rights and responsibilities, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.

The course also addresses Wawasan Nusantara, national resilience, Indonesia’s role in international relations, social justice, anti-corruption, and civic participation. Students analyse how constitutional values and democratic principles apply to contemporary social, organizational, and public-policy challenges.

A modern digital-citizenship component develops students’ ability to assess misinformation, online participation, privacy, civic discourse, and the ethical use of digital platforms. Through case analysis and a civic action project, students practise critical reasoning, respectful deliberation, evidence-based communication, and collaborative problem-solving.
