IDTS3101 - Cloud Computing
Overview
This course provides an in-depth understanding of cloud computing as a modern paradigm for delivering IT infrastructure and services. Students will explore the fundamental concepts, architecture, and service models of cloud computing, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS), along with deployment models such as public, private, and hybrid clouds. The course also covers key aspects of cloud system design, including scalability, elasticity, resource management, automation, and security in cloud environments. Students will gain hands-on experience with leading cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) through case studies and simulations. Furthermore, the course highlights the integration of cloud computing with emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and artificial intelligence (AI). By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to design, assess, and implement cloud-based solutions that meet organizational needs while considering performance, cost, and security requirements.
