IITS4203 - IoT for Business
Overview
This course focuses on the implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in modern business environments. Students will learn how IoT devices, sensors, cloud systems, automation, and real‑time analytics are used to improve operational efficiency, customer experience, business monitoring, and digital transformation. The course emphasizes practical business‑oriented IoT solutions through hands‑on projects and industry case studies.
The curriculum covers IoT ecosystems, digital business transformation, IoT architecture layers (sensors, actuators, gateways), business workflow integration, microcontrollers (ESP32, Arduino), sensor interfacing, embedded programming basics, and IoT communication protocols (MQTT, HTTP, REST API, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth). Students will also explore cloud platforms (Firebase, ThingsBoard, Blynk), real‑time dashboards, smart monitoring systems, and IoT automation using relays and rule‑based control.
Additionally, the course addresses IoT data analytics for business decisions, security frameworks (device authentication, secure communication, data privacy), mobile and web integration, infrastructure scalability, and deployment models. Through hands‑on labs and a project‑based approach, students will develop a complete IoT business solution from prototype to cloud dashboard.
